SHIFT HAPPENS!

If we all did what we are capable of doing...We would literally astound ourselves! ~Thomas Edison

Hey Tuff Chicks!  This is Marcee here, your pal in fitness!  As we (Billy & I ) sit here in Starbucks and talking about the day, we are wondering how you feel after today's session.

What do you think Thomas Edison was thinking when he said the above quote? Every time I hear this quote ( I often actually say it to myself when I'm being pushed by Billy in the training world!) I think, If I truly did what I was capable of doing and lifted heavier, or did more repetitions or ran a little faster, for instance,  then ...imagine the possibilities.

I've been doing this resistance training stuff long enough now to know, indeed, SHIFT HAPPENS!  Changes have occurred in my body and I know change will occur in your body as well.

Remember what Billy said today at the closing of the workout about FAT LOSS & muscle!  Fat burns in the muscle cell PERIOD! So... the more muscle you have, the more fat you're going to burn doing everything:  grocery shopping, house cleaning, driving, walking, yoga, gardening, snow shoveling, etc.

It was a kick-butt workout that you did today! The kind that will make you fat burning, lean, mean, Tuff Chicks.  It wasn't easy!  From my view point, boy, if you did 3-4 workouts a week like that (2 with us and 2 on your own) you would "literally astound yourselves."

Keep up the effort!

Marcee

I wish I was with you....Ok, Maybe Not!

Greetings Tuff Chicks from sunny Florida where it's 88 degrees! I'm thinking of you and hoping you are all warm as Colorado gets it's first snow storm of the season! ;-)

While I'm away from you vacationing with my family, I am reminded how important our food choices are. No matter where we are, we can still stick with our food plan and choose "smart" foods. Whether you are at home, at the office or on a boat, it's helpful to stock with durable fruits such as apples, oranges, bananas, pears, kiwis and nectarines. Or go with veggies that don't need to be refrigerated: avocados, grape or cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, and sugar snap peas.

We can also find creative ways to get our exercise when we don't have access to RetroFit's Training Center. I've enjoyed swimming laps around the boat by racing my daughter!

Here's to YOU, "smart" food choices and exercise!

Strength is in the numbers!

Wow! Another great week of training team!

Can't you feel the energy begin to bubble as you get further into each session?

Each week while your fitness level is showing improvement your inhibitions for pushing yourself continue to lower.
Thats a sign of fitness and improved health. Thats what I'm talking about!

Another huge thanks to Team TCF Coach Marcee Mygatt, or as we lovingly refer to as , M2. Marcee is a great motivator with a huge heart for teaching and a thirst for knowlege...and I feel we're lucky to have her.

So lets talk about step 2 in what it takes to make positive changes in our brain that will last a lifetime or professionally speaking, Cognitve Restructuring.

Accept Responsibility- You already named it and figured out what was the prison guard in your mental prison so now OWN IT.

As an adjective, the word OWN means- pertaining to, or belonging to oneself or itself
and as a VERB it means to acknowledge or admit.

It doesn't get any plainer than that.

My wife Paige and I do our very best to help our kids take ownership in their own "Junk" because we know it is going to ultimately be up to them some day to make their own decisions that will determine their outcomes.

I don't know about you but I'm a huge fan of quotes. My office window is surrounded by them because it's nice to know that there are others who have gone through what we go through.

For example, Did you ever experience the feeling at the card store that " oh my goodness, this is the perfect card. It is exactly how I feel! Well, did you really think they wrote it for YOU?

Of course not. They wrote it because they, like tens of thousands of others have experienced it too.

Universally you are not alone on how you may feel but you ARE alone when it comes to taking ownership in your stuff.

One of my favorites and my mantra on this topic states:
If it is to be, It is up to me!
You must win back control of your mind because ONLY YOU CAN CHANGE YOU!

Until next time...Get FIT, Stay FIT!

Billy

Tuff ChickFIT is born!

Greetings Team,

This is the first entrance of the TFC group into blogosphere and I wanted to say how fired up I am to see how hard you ladies are training.. already!

We are only on week 2 and I have seen so much improvement in your effort, intensity and fitness levels.

Last week we began the series on how to finally make the Pathway to the permanent changes in your life that you have long denied yourself.

Last week as a reminder was step 1:
1. Become the watcher in your own mind.

Your job is to keep track of ...Whats going on in your own mind?

You are not alone!

We all continually battle the negative chatter that goes back and forth in our head
...and all too often the good guy loses and the bad guy wins that battle.

How many times have you found yourself making those self deprecating comments just to help you cope with the real thoughts of "I'm too fat, I'm too thin, I'm too weak or I'm too_________(fill in the blank).

If you TRULY want to move forward and make the lasting changes you MUST start by saying goodbye to those negative words inside your head and become the watcher in your own mind.

It was Henry Ford who said,
Whether you think that you can, or that you can't, you are usually right!
So, If you CAN'T name it, you CAN'Tchange it!

If you fool yourself and make negative comments about yourself you will open the door to others to do the same thing and your subconscious mind (which is so powerful) will find ways to prove you are right and you will soon , if not already, become that which you are describing.

Wouldn't that STINK?

So don't be afraid to say exactly what it is that you feel is holding you back because ...

If You Can Name It You CAN Change It!

Your Homework: Identify what is your stinking thinking or your mental prisons and write it down so we can start taking those positive steps.

**As a reinforcement don't forget to take your fish oil which benefits have been shown to include improved learning, memory, resistance to depression and bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, dementia, ADHD and dyslexia. Thats one heck of a supplement!

Until next time...Get Fit! Stay Fit!

 Coach Billy Corbett
